Hermine Near Hurricane Strength Monday, Begins Weakening Tuesday

Hermine, a post-tropical cyclone, is expected to remain near hurricane strength today, Monday, September 5, 2016, the National Hurricane Center says, with maximum sustained winds near 70 mph. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for the coast of Long Island, NY, Marthaís Vineyard and Nantucket.

Tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 230 miles from Hermineís center, but a gradual weakening trend is forecast to begin Tuesday as the stormís center will meander slowly offshore of the New England coast throughout the day.
